“If, during a concert, we had the opportunity to observe the air as it vibrates under the simultaneous influence of voices and musical instruments, we would, with great wonder, see colours arranging themselves and moving through it.”.
Athanasius Kircher
Nearly four centuries ago, Athanasius Kircher imagined sound shaping colour in the air. This visionary intuition has accompanied my research into colour, perception and inner chromatic landscapes,
Inner Chromatic Landscapes
Colour is not seen. It is inhabited.
Each work is conceived as a threshold between the visible and the invisible. Unlit, it exists as a silent image. Illuminated, it becomes an immersive chromatic field where colour acquires depth, atmosphere and presence.
These landscapes do not depict nature. They reveal an inner geography.
There is a place where colour becomes space.
SYNAESTHESIA: COLOUR & SOUND – LIGHT BOXES
Light Behaviour The work reveals two distinct perceptual states: unlit, it appears as a digital artwork; illuminated, it becomes an immersive chromatic environment in which colour acquires depth, atmosphere and spatial presence.

Sophia Cromatica
Roman by birth, Venetian by adoption, an ancient yet contemporary soul, Sophia Cromatica has explored the profound nature of metamorphosis since her earliest artistic beginnings. Her works unfold as visual mythologies.
In her early artistic practice, the influence of mosaic and its extraordinary chromatic potential inspired a continuous exploration of the square as a sublime expressive form. Small and large paper tapestries evolved into angelic figures, manifestations of the sacred, and cosmogonies inspired by the four elements.
Her studies in architecture and cinema led her to collaborate with musicians, actors, designers, and choreographers, creating sculptural stage sets and video installations. She was the only artist selected to design and create the ceremonial robe for the Zen Master of the Buddhist Temple of Fidenza.
The cross-pollination of artistic disciplines and media, with colour as their absolute protagonist, gave rise to immersive environments in which the viewer became an integral part of the work, enveloped in a meta-narrative of colour and light. The arabesque became the recurring thread guiding these timeless journeys across space and perception.
Within her ethereal landscapes of colour, the viewer is invited to ascend to another realm—a spiritual body and a celestial earth—“in the world, but not of the world.”
