CHROMATIC LANDSCAPES – LIGHT BOXES

SONIC BLUE

COLOUR AND SOUND

Chromatic Resonances

Colour can also be heard.

Curatorial Text

For Claudia Bonollo, colour is never confined to the visible. It unfolds as resonance, vibration and presence, giving rise to an experience in which seeing and listening become inseparable.

SONIC BLUE is conceived as a light artwork where colour is revealed through illumination. Rather than representing sound, it invites the viewer to perceive colour as an immaterial resonance that transforms the surrounding space.

Part of the ongoing collection COLOUR AND SOUND โ€“ Chromatic Resonances, this work reflects the artist’s long-standing research into the relationship between colour, perception and the senses.

CHROMATIC LANDSCAPES – LIGHT BOXES

Luminous landscapes for living spaces

These works are not simply images illuminated from behind.
They are luminous presences conceived to inhabit a space.

When the light is off, the artwork reveals its depth through layers of colour, organic forms and shadow. When the light is switched on, another dimension emerges: the landscape becomes luminous, the colours intensify and the work seems to generate its own atmosphere.

In some pieces, the intensity of the light can be adjusted, allowing the presence of the artwork to evolve with the space โ€” from a subtle glow to a more powerful, immersive radiance.

This possibility of modulation makes each light box particularly intimate. It can accompany a quiet interior during the day, transform a room at dusk, or become a gentle source of light at night.

There is something unexpectedly pleasurable about living with these works: sitting, talking, reading or simply being together in their light, while the luminous landscape becomes part of the atmosphere of the room.

The artwork does not merely illuminate the space.
It inhabits it.

Each light box is created as a work of digital art and conceived to establish a dialogue between image, colour, architecture and light.

METABIOLOGY RISING

METABIOLOGY RISING explores the transformation of biological imagery through colour, light and perception.

Cellular forms leave the strictly biological realm and enter an imaginal territory where matter becomes landscape, and landscape becomes an interior experience.

Conceived as a light artwork, the work shifts between two states: the image in silence and the image activated by light. Illumination does not simply make the work visible; it brings forward another dimension of its chromatic and perceptual life.

ORGANIC LIGHT BOXES โ€” Illuminated Nature

LIGHT BOXES – lluminated Nature

Light Boxes are works of biophilic art in which light ceases to be an auxiliary element and becomes an essential part of the composition. The lighting passes through mosses, lichens, preserved flowers and other organic elements, revealing textures, depths and chromatic nuances that continuously transform the perception of the work. The luminous effect gives the flowers an almost crystalline appearance, as if they were made of glass.

Each piece is created as a unique work or as part of a short series. Its production requires a lengthy design process and a high level of technical complexity in order to integrate nature, composition and lighting into a perfectly balanced whole.

Entirely handmade, using digital prints and high-quality preserved materials, the Light Boxes require no maintenance and can be adapted in format, dimensions and composition to residential, hospitality, commercial or corporate projects.

More than simply illuminating a space, these works create an atmosphere. Light does not merely make nature visible: it interprets it, transforms it and turns it into an experience of contemplation.

BLOOMING CELLS

Organic Light Boxes

The Organic Light Boxes emerged in 2014 with The Pop-Up Garden at The Westin Palace in Madrid, a project that received the Second Prize at PIDA Paesaggio 2014.

In 2023, Claudia Bonollo completely reworked the original concept for the Madrid Design Festival, creating a new generation of light boxes in which digital imagery, living forms and natural flowers converge.

The project continues the artistโ€™s long-standing exploration of metabiology: biological forms are transformed through colour and light, becoming imaginal landscapes in which nature is no longer represented, but reconfigured.

BLOOMING CELLS gives form to this transformation: cells, flowers and chromatic structures appear to be caught in the act of becoming.
